Management of Electrolyte Abnormalities

Na	If sodium > 155 or < 128 mmol/L, recheck sodium with next lab draw Inpatient Pathway for Continuous Administration of IV Fluids Consider nephrology consult for assistance with acute management
Glu	If hypoglycemia present prior to admission, defined as BG < 70 Check POC glucose on admission and q3h until POC glucose > 80 If blood glucoses persistently < 70 despite NG and/or IV rehydration, consult Endocrine Consider 2 mL/kg D10W bolus for persistent hypoglycemia
